The School addresses the diverse and unique health care challenges across the state by sharing expertise in education, service, policy, and political arenas and through innovative research for the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge.

ANNOUNCEMENT
The School of Nursing is pleased to announce the start-up of the Post Masters Doctor of Nursing Practice program. Courses will begin fall 2015. For the first cohort admission is limited to:

Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMH-NP) who are licensed and practicing in the state of Alaska.
Individuals seeking full-time enrollment (future admissions will include both full and part time students).

Applicants will be considered for program admission on a competitive basis. Meeting all admission criteria does not guarantee admission. Special consideration may be given to candidates with clinical expertise, proficiency in other languages, knowledge of other cultures, and a proven record of professional contributions. This information should be documented in the resume portion of the application. To the extent that there are limited seats available in the program, preference may be given to residents of the state of Alaska as defined by the university’s policy on residency for tuition purposes.

Accreditation

The UAA School of Nursing offers associate of applied science, bachelor of science and master of science in a variety of formats and is fully accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and approved by the Alaska State Board of Nursing. The Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a new post master's degree and will begin in fall 2015. We have applied for candidacy status with Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, which is the first step in the accreditation process.
